From the archives - SkyArrow 650

In 2001, my wife and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary in San Diego.  Back then (remember, this is six years prior to getting my PPL) I was heavy into flight simming.  As part of this hobby, I dabbled in working with some fine people to model an aircraft for Terminal Reality's flight sim "Fly!".  I modeled the complete interior and exterior of the subject aircraft in 3D using software called TrueSpace.

This shows an exterior of a theoretical amphibious variant.

As part of the trip to San Diego, I coordinated with the distributor of a fun little plane called the SkyArrow 650 to go up for a flight to record the actual sounds of the aircraft.  As things sometimes go with projects like these, it was never fully realized.  However, I did get some great pics which I wanted to share.

About to overfly KSEE Santee airport on our way up towards Ramona.  As you can clearly see, the view is fantastic!

Making sure me and my favorite lady can fit!  (The rudder pedals adjust fore/aft for the front seat occupant)

Short final runway 28L at KMYF Montgomery Field.  The SkyArrow is powered by a Rotax 912.

The office.  Throttle on left (not visible) and side stick controller on the right.

Looks fast, as you might expect from an Italian manufacturer :-D
